Snake.io is a multiplayer snake battle played on one big shared arena. You start as a short snake, eat glowing pellets to grow, and try to survive among other snakes that are doing the same. Kooapps made it, and it started life on Android and iOS in 2016 before reaching the browser in 2022.
It is a different kind of snake from the old grid game. Your snake glides smoothly in any direction instead of snapping around a grid, and the real danger is other players. Run your head into another snake's body and you are out. Make another snake run into yours and you can collect what it leaves behind.

How to play
Move the mouse, or use WASD or the arrow keys, to steer your snake. Hold the left mouse button or the spacebar to speed up. Click inside the game once first so the browser sends your keys to it.
A round has no fixed length. You play until you crash, and the aim is to finish with a longer snake than last time. Pellets make you longer. Speeding up is useful for catching food or escaping, but it is also how you get into trouble, so use it in short bursts.
Tips
- Stay near the edge of the crowd early on. Plenty of small pellets lie around the outskirts, and there are fewer large snakes to run into.
- Use the speed boost to get ahead of another snake's head, then turn across its path. This is the main way to take down a bigger snake.
- Do not boost without a reason. Check what is ahead of you first, because a boost makes it harder to turn away from an obstacle.
- Once you are long, curl your body into a loop around smaller snakes, but keep an exit open for yourself.
